Crazed concealed carrier kills woman for telling him to stop shooting?

I’m sure that the usual suspects will be all up in arms about this incident of gun violence

So he’s out in the street, shooting his gun. A lady tells him to knock it off and he shoots and kills her. So is this proof that so-called “law abiding citizens” can’t be trusted with guns?

Oops. Maybe that’s why the gun grabbers aren’t raising a stink. Yet another felon demonstrating his total lack of care for the lives and safety of others.

Robbing with a dangerous weapon

Another robbery in Fayetteville,

I don’t know about you, but if I was out with my buddies and said, “Hey, let’s stick this dude up,” they’d haul me off to the cops themselves. So what kind of people do this sort of thing?

The second suspect doesn’t seem to have a criminal conviction record. In any case, he was hanging out with two felons, he probably knew what he was getting in to.

I hate the IRA. I hate them the same way that I hate Al-Qaeda. If I had my way they would all be rounded up, gut shot, and allowed to bleed to death.

One gets the impression that this was the sort of thing that US gangs do, a sort of initiation. Go do something terrible to prove your commitment.

Left unexamined is how a country that bans all handguns and most rifles and shotguns still has an armed terror group running about. Isn’t gun control supposed to stop that? Or is it just designed to prevent the honest citizens from shooting back?

Why is far Leftist "Progress Ohio" running a fake Chardon school shooting memorial website?

Ladd Everitt and his band of far leftist anti-gunners have been spamming Twitter with exhortations to “leave a note of support” at what appears to be some sort of memorial website “RememberingChardon.com.” Prompted by a tweet from @spartywrx, I decided to Whois the website. Here’s what I found.

So the owner of Remembering Chardon is Progress Ohio. Like pretty much anything with the word “progress” in the name (except for Progress Energy) Progress Ohio is just another astroturfed far left organization. Read their website and see what amounts to a laundry list of Leftist causes.

So why is an extreme leftist (albeit one that tries to appear “responsible” rather than violent) website running a “Memorial” website for a school shooting? I think it’s just a way to collect emails to add to their mailing list. The Left as a group is anti-gun. The leader of CSGV, Josh Horwitz, wrote in his book that guns were a threat to Progressive politics.

While we try to believe that the various leftist groups out there are independent, the reality is that they are just one big group. A political hydra with many heads in many issues. The anti-gun lobby is just one face of a much larger group.

Feel free to use the number and the email address and ask Bret Thompson of Progress Ohio just what the heck he thinks he’s doing with his fake memorial website. If you want a real memorial, go here.

Murderer comes from criminal family?

If there is one article of faith around this blog it could be summed up in the following phrase,

Leopards don’t change their spots

This works both ways. Obviously I believe that those who have proven that they are on the wrong side of the law are extremely unlikely to suddenly decide to walk the straight and narrow. The other side is that those who are law abiding as a matter of habit will not suddenly turn into monsters. That was the whole point of my “felons behaving badly” category. The anti-gunners are always pretending that people like you and me are going to “snap” and murder people with our “loaded, hidden firearms.”

So what are we to make of the school shooter* in Chardon yesterday? A young man from a good family, with a bright future and all the prospects in the world? Umm, maybe not.

Even his mom got into the act

He even had a criminal past

And he wasn’t actually a student at the school he shot up.

According to the interviews being conducted, the people he shot up were students waiting to take the bus to that “alternative” school. We should be clear that “alternative” does not mean “magnet.” Alternative is the more PC way of saying “Reform School.”

The thing that’s pissing me off about all the chatter on Twitter (I’ll rant about Twitter later) is that people keep popping off about “bullying.” Let me go on record now with my armchair diagnosis. The shooter is a psychopath. Not a crazed axe murderer blibbering about voices in his head movie-type psychopath, but a real, walking, talking, DSM diagnosable psychopath. I think he’s no different than the other famous psychopath school shooter who everyone pretended was a bullying victim. There is some speculation that he shot one guy after his ex-girlfriend started dating the new guy. This is the sort of behavior a psychopath would think made sense. We’ll have to wait and see, but keep in mind. Sometimes people are outcasts and loners because they are so damaged that no one in their right minds wants to be friends with them. Remember who the above linked psychopath's friend was, a depressive, revenge minded teen.

I think that in the end we will find that this murderer is another of those severely damaged people who grew up without a conscience. I think we’ll find that he sees others as objects to be used in any way he sees fit. I think that in his mind, killing people that refused to give him his way made sense. And worst of all, once everyone starts telling about him, the problem will look so obvious that we’ll all wonder why no one did anything before this point.

* I have a policy of not naming people like this. They generally want fame, and I plan on denying them their infamy. Let them die in obscurity.

Hitting and running

No matter how stupid the crime, when you get to the bottom you usually find that the perpetrator had a track record. Case in point.

He got hauled in for something like six different hit and run accidents one right after another. It seems that he mistook Fayetteville for one big bumper car arena. Not that this should surprise you, but alcohol was involved.

So is this a case of the bottle turning a normally good man bad?

Nope. He was a criminal already, from beating up women to selling drugs and running from the law. I suggest that his punishment be 10 minutes with each of the victims. Victims may elect to work together or separately, and may use any weapon up to and including axe handles. No sharp edges please. No sense letting him get off quickly.

You’d think that a country that basically bans civilian ownership of firearms would have less gun crime.

Hmm. Good thing that the husband isn’t allowed to own a pistol. He might have shot the attackers and saved everyone a lot of trouble. Even if he’d legally owned a shotgun, he’d have had to open the safe, get the shotgun, open the locked container with the ammo, load the shotgun, and go outside. Then he’d have been arrested. In most places in America, we are within our rights to roll out of the house with an AR-15 and shoot people assaulting our wives. As long as you don’t hose down the neighborhood, the cops would be much happier finding the perps dead on the street than having to search for them.

If the choice is Cowboy justice and total civilian disarmament, I’ll take the (fictional) Wild Wild West anytime.

Super-Secret sneak peek at the rifle barrel you all want

In addition to being your blog host, I moonlight as Deputy Assistant Shop Monkey at Templar Custom.

Here’s what I spent my Sunday working on.

This is the new prototype barrel from Templar. It’s an integrally suppressed AR barrel. The idea is that a barrel that is 16 inches overall, but has a suppressor built in would not require you to register your rifle as a Short Barreled Rifle.

The barrel will still be subject to a $200 tax stamp for the suppressor, but the rifle itself will be a normal AR-15. Couple this with Templar’s FastRail quick change barrel system and you can run a standard unsuppressed barrel normally, and in about 5-10 minutes, swap it out for this suppressed barrel.

The barrel will be 17” overall, including the outer tube. Overall length with the stock collapsed is 34”. This is about the shortest you’re going to get without springing for another $200 SBR tax stamp.

Bob is still assembling the gas block, but he hopes to test fire it soon. Video when we get it running.

Northlake Mall shooter captured

Back on 6 February, someone decided to shoot a guy at Charlotte’s Northlake Mall. CMPD have finally caught up with their suspect.

Unsurprisingly he is not what you would call a law abiding citizen.

He’s bad enough that even the newspapers outed him as a thug.

When you’re bad enough that the reporters got to the trouble to find your criminal record, you’ve really pissed them off.

My wife says that Northlake Mall is a ritzy sort of place. Maybe they are pissed that the violence marred a “nice” place. News flash: Criminals are not great respecters of boundaries, either moral, legal, or geographical.

There are lots of slurs upon people of Scottish heritage alleging abuse of sheep, but the Welsh usually only abuse Englishmen. Here’s a crime that would outrage the Scots to no end and cause them to do the unthinkable, ally with the English!

Don’t worry that you can’t pronounce the town names. I’m not sure that the Welsh can either.

The pistol pictured at the link is a silver revolver, with ivory colored grips and is claimed to be “similar” to the gun they are looking for. Not explained is how a “man” and a 12 year old boy would come into possession of a handgun on an island ruled by a government that bans all handguns.

Clearly the ban has some holes in it. If even two idiots out to shoot some sheep can get a banned weapon, I think we can say that gun control is a total failure.

More gun crime in Wilmington

It looks like Friday was a busy day for gun toting thugs.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty attached to my gun, and even if cops were going to arrest me I wouldn’t throw it into a bush.

Oh, so that’s why he chucked it. He wasn’t supposed to own it, much less carry it.

The Sportsman’s Club has a bar, obviously, and Thursday night (til 2 am Friday) is Karaoke Night. This means that it’s totally illegal to have a gun there. No guns in places that serve alcohol. The gun grabbers will hail this as yet one more reason that you and I can’t carry in Applebee’s.

Yeah, one more law will fix this problem. Sure.

One of the highest, but not in the “civilized” world according to the bigoted anti gunners who regularly tell us that the US has the highest in the “Western Industrialized” world. Racism?

There’s more

I’m guessing that it never occurred to the authorities to freely distribute the guns, including the old military and police weapons, to the honest citizens of Jamaica. We wouldn’t want the hoi polloi to be able to defend themselves.

Scrape some cash together for a guy who needs it

I posted about a guy in Des Moines who spent about 4 months in jail waiting for trial in a self defense shooting. They stuck him with such a huge bail amount that he couldn’t possibly pay it. He was evicted from his apartment and everything inside was put on the curb to be stolen. He got exactly the sort of treatment you’d expect in a state that doesn’t have a Castle Law.

Here’s your chance to give him a little something to get him back on his feet.

Sitting on my countertop, between both of the Netflix envelopes, is an envelope with a check for Mr Lewis. All three will go out in the mail Monday morning. Please consider doing the same.

Two school lockdown leads to arrest

The gun grabbers are always whining that we need to “think of the children.” So is this the sort of thing that is bothering them about gun owners?

So some gun owner was shooting up the place near a school?

Once again we see that when laws get broken, the person at the center of it all has a history of breaking the law.

So tell me, which is the rational response to criminals breaking all the laws we already have? Should we make another law for them to break? Or should we just throw them in jail and leave them there?

NCGV, Lies, Half-Truths, and the Anti-Gunner Way

You know, the gun grabbers are almost a bad parody of “The Chicago Way” in the Untouchables. We pull out facts, they lie harder. We point out problems with their argument; they change the subject and scream louder.

The latest hobby horse that North Carolinians against Gun Violence Ownership are trying to ride to relevance is the “Child Access Prevention” bandwagon. You see, it’s not that people do bad things, it’s that people don’t “properly secure” their firearms! Here’s their latest Tweet, the first in 8 days and only the 6th this month

NCGV breaks their radio silence to try to dance in the blood of a child shot in a school in Washington (AC*) when an 8 year old brought a gun from home and negligently discharged it from inside his book bag.

Wow, that puts a really different spin on things, doesn’t it? We have a drugged up convict mother in possession of what the child says is the father’s gun. The mother wasn’t “irresponsible,” she was a criminal! The father has what appear to be domestic violence protective orders against him. Are both of them prohibited persons? Are either of them legally allowed to own a gun?

Here’s the problem. If you have people who are barred by law from possession of a firearm, pissing and moaning that they didn’t “properly secure” that firearm is focusing on ants when elephants are stomping you to death. They also ignore that the child seems to be saying that it’s ok to bring a gun to school to solve a personal issue. Looking at his parent’s criminal records, I wonder where he learned that? They think that “One More Law™” will fix an already wildly dysfunctional family.

This goes to show you that the gun grabbers don’t care how they have to lie, cheat, and steal in order to violate your Second Amendment rights. They will do and say anything, and avoid, cover up, or just flat ignore reality to get what they want.

You start to wonder, though, if they even bother to read the whole story before they comment. They are always handing us the rope we use to hang them.

Sampson County shooter caught

I posted about the two Sampson County people who got shot, one fatally. Well the cops have caught their suspect.

Surprise, he’s NOT a felon.

But with all the other charges he’s been convicted of it looks like it’s only be accident that he’s never been convicted of a felony.

So let’s see, a criminal, shoots two other criminals, one of whom dies. And this is somehow the fault of the law abiding gun owners? Who wants to bet that the gun grabbers will tell us that this all can be fixed with yet more ineffective laws that only affect the law abiding?

What kind of gun control misses the obvious law banning machine guns? I mean, if you’ve gone and made it near to impossible to buy regular weapons, you’d think that machine guns would be really tough to get a hold of, right?

Of course, if it’s already a crime to own a gun, you might as well have a machine gun. It’s not like it’s any MORE illegal.

It also seems that Ireland follows the same “if you’re a criminal, you’re more likely to get shot at” rule that we do.

Sounds like a pleasant fellow. Hard to imagine that anyone would want him dead.

Raleigh PD tracks them down while you wait

I linked to an ARFcom post a while back where the police officer author said that they put a great deal of effort into capturing armed robbers because of the level of danger that they represent. In a clear example of the kind of determination applied to such cases, Raleigh PD managed to catch the second of two armed robbers within 4 hours today.

I have the 911 calls, and I have no way to embed them. You have to hear it to believe it. The intended victim was stuck up at gunpoint where they demanded an absurd sum of money. They said they needed $50,000 and then demanded he take them inside and open the safe. He was confused, as he doesn’t have that kind of money, nor does he have a safe. He was terrified, not only for himself, but for his wife who was inside the house. Instead of complying with the demand, going inside, and possibly putting his wife in the line of fire, he ran away. He decided that he’d rather take a bullet in the back than see his wife shot.

Doesn’t surprise you, does it? The second of the two already had felony convictions for Common Law Burglary and solicitation/attempted possession of a firearm by a felon. How much jail time do you think he got? None at all. He is on active probation for the latter charge. The first suspect, while not a felon, was an absconder from parole and has a drug record.

Two things can be learned here. First, there’s worse things than getting shot. Watching your wife get tortured or raped in a vain attempt to force you to open a safe you don’t own ranks pretty high on that list. Second, get yourself on your local police’s press release email list. I received this via email this morning. Each time something interesting happens, the police send out a mass email to all the news organizations. If you ask the police’s Public Information Officer, he or she will add you to that list. It can be fascinating, in a morbid sort of way, reading all the stuff that the police consider newsworthy. Several times the stories I post here came from those RPD emails, or from the emails sent out by my local PD, Garner. I just wait until the newspaper writes them up so that I have links.
