With an axe!

So some tool decided to take a whack at an Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputy with an axe. Predictably, gun beats axe and the attacker died.

As the deputies were performing their investigation (Suspect) came at one of them with an ax, according to the Sheriff.
“He lunged toward the officers with the ax drawn back,” Bowman said. “The officer had to discharge his weapon to defend himself from the ax. They were about to be hit with it.”

Strangely enough, there is no record of the axe wielding man in the NC Department of Corrections database. There is a record of him elsewhere.

(Suspect) has a history of violence against police officers. In the mid-1990s, (Suspect) spent nearly 11 months in a New Jersey prison for fleeing to elude officers. In 1991, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and obstructing a police officer with violence, felonies for which he was sentenced to 30 months in jail.

I don’t think we’ll miss him, nor will New Jersey mind that we’re unlikely to return him.
