Survivor sentenced – Band moves on

Back in September, just before I started blogging, a North Carolina band, Parmalee, was held up at gunpoint in their RV outside of The Money nightclub in Rock Hill, SC. Luckily for the band, and unluckily for the robbers, the drummer had his gun. Now the surviving robber has been sentenced for his part in the crime

A Rock Hill man who was involved in a deadly robbery and shooting outside of a Rock Hill nightclub has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.


He pled guilty to Armed Robbery, Conspiracy, and Burglary.

According to a Rock Hill police report, 22-year-old (Suspect 1) and 22-year-old (Suspect 2) attempted to rob the band after a September 20th concert. (Suspect 1) and (Suspect 2) forced their way into the band's RV with a gun and demanded money from the band.
Drummer Scott Thomas came from rear of RV with a handgun and ordered the two men to leave the bus, according to his brother and band mate Matt Thomas. (Suspect 1) and (Suspect 2) fired at Thomas and he fired back. Thomas was shot three times; (Suspect 2) was shot and killed, (Suspect 1) was injured.
Thomas was on a ventilator and underwent multiple surgeries during his five weeks at CMC.  He was not charged in (Suspect 2)'s death because police say he acted in self-defense.

Another reason he wasn’t charged was because being a badass isn’t a crime in South Carolina.

And now the band will move on in their career while the surviving criminal rots in jail.

The band has recently signed a contract and will move from Greenville to Nashville later this fall.

Good for them.
