I told you so!

Earlier today I reported that a home invader was shot dead by the lady of the house as he and an accomplice were assaulting the man of the house.  Well, they’ve identified the dead home invader.

A woman shot and killed one of two men who forced their way into the house at 2404 Finchley Drive, near the intersection of Eastway Drive and Shamrock Road on Friday. The man has been identified as 29-year-old (Suspect1).

A next-door neighbor, who asked not to be named, said Allison [the apparent victim, ed.] came to her house bleeding profusely from his head and asked her to call 911. Allison's girlfriend and 21-year-old daughter were home at the time of the attack, the neighbor said.
The neighbor's son, who also asked that his name be withheld, said it was Allison's girlfriend who shot his attacker. He said he saw her run up and down the street "in hysterics, saying there was a dead man in the back of her den."
Police said the assaulted man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. His injuries are not life-threatening and the woman was not hurt, officials said. Homicide detectives were questioning them.

It sounds like it was a traumatic incident for both the victim and his hero girlfriend. One hopes that she gets whatever counseling she needs in order to come to terms with this.

I hope that you didn’t bet against me when I offered odds that our dead home invader was a felon. He was released from prison only 14 months ago after spending over 9 years behind bars. While he was in he managed to rack up 36 infractions, the last one only three months before he was released, so no one can say that he was a good boy getting his life together.

Good riddance. It’s sad that the girlfriend has to deal with the aftermath of killing a known criminal. But in saving her boyfriend, she has spared us all a lot of future grief.
