Police and “experts” tell you that when confronted by a criminal, give them what they want. Your wallet is not worth dying over.
What if what they want is your life? Should you give them that too? Anyone who would threaten you with a weapon is already jeopardizing your life. They have already broken the basic social contract of “keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself” and are attempting to substitute a new deal. They say, “your money or your life.” But since they weren’t willing to live by the old deal, why would you trust them to honor the new one?
Luckily for our victim, he will survive. You might not be so lucky.

"Your wallet is not worth dying over."
ReplyDeleteNope, but if I'm threatened for my wallet, handing my wallet over doesn't end the threat, only now the thug has my money, my credit cards and my home address.
My wallet is NOT worth dying for, but being violently assaulted and your life threatened is, and if I can help it I'll make the guy who dies the other guy!
I figure what they really want is to be stopped. They know they're doing evil and probably don't like themselves very much. I feel an obligation to these poor lost souls to help them stop. That may require the use of lethal force.
