Today is a new day in North Carolina. Voter discontent with Obama and his agenda has had far reaching effects here in North Carolina. We like to talk about national politics, but in gun rights, the real action is at the State level. For the first time in 112 years, the both houses of the North Carolina General Assembly have gone Republican. Think of it, in 112 years, the Democrats have had control in the NC Senate. What do you think will happen to pro-gun rights bills now? Even in a fairly rural state with fairly wide support for expanding gun rights, just a few well placed legislators can stall pro-rights bills. Now these legislators are not so well placed to block them, and the rural Dems will vote with us. The pro-rights bills probably could have passed the NCGA on a floor vote, but they never made it out of committee.
I love lobbying. I hate electoral politics, the shaking hands, the phone calls, the generally annoying the hell out of the common man to try to get a person elected. Most people don’t want to be bothered, and I am uncomfortable bothering them. I do like bothering the elected representatives to do what I think is best. I am looking forward to having long conversations with our new batch of legislators where I outline all the North Carolina laws that could use some attention.
Add Involuntary annexation to that list, please.
